Easy Chicken Wrap Recipe
Can you ever have to many easy chicken recipes? I really don’t think so! There are some evenings when I just need something simple, relatively quick that everyone in my house will eat without a complaint. I can imagine you feel that way every now and then too!
Just in case you need a little something new to shake you out of your recipe rut, I’ve got something new and amazing for you! This Spicy Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap is an incredibly easy dinner or a great healthy lunch option! Packed with grilled chicken, salty bacon, fresh vegetables and a delicious chipotle sauce this is a wrap that your entire family will love!
What ingredients do you need for a Chicken Wrap?
- Chicken: Any cooked chicken, this is a great way to use leftovers, but I love to use this.
- Bacon: Cooked, crispy bacon.
- Sauces: Ranch Dressing and Chipotle Mayo
- Vegetables: Lettuce and Tomatoes
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Tortilla: regular, low carb, gluten free or flavored.
How do you make a Chicken Wrap?
Begin by warming a large tortilla in the microwave for 15 seconds or, my preferred method, is in a very lightly greased skillet. By warming the tortilla it makes it much more pliable and easier to wrap.
Spread the chipotle sauce and ranch dressing over the tortilla evenly. Top with lettuce and shredded cheddar, tomatoes, grilled chicken sliced and bacon.
Carefully roll the tortilla tightly as it will be packed! Slice down the center and enjoy!
Other Chicken Wrap Recipe Ideas
Wraps and chicken are a match made in heaven! Are there two more versatile ingredients? Here are some tasty ideas for future meals!
- Use a flavored tortilla! There are many flavored tortillas in the stores now- red pepper, spinach, jalapeno cheddar or sun dried tomato are just a few you could use
- Mix up your veggies! Add in a different type of lettuce instead of iceberg- you could try butter lettuce, romaine or spinach. You can also add in shredded carrots, bell peppers, sauteed onions, tomatoes, cucumbers- whatever you like!
- Sauces- add in a mustard, such as dijon, honey or a stone ground variety. Or add some spice with a sriracha, buffalo or regular hot sauce.
- Cheese- try a different cheese! You could use feta, goat cheese, pepperjack, cheddar, swiss, gouda, whatever you like!
Can you meal prep a Chicken Wrap?
Of course! Here are my best meal prep tips for this wrap:
I like to grill thinly sliced chicken breast and store them in the fridge for wraps and salads. This is one of the easiest meal prep short cuts. For this recipe I use this delicious Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken. I combine the marinade and pour in a ziplock bag over the thinly sliced chicken breast and marinate at least an hour up to overnight.
Grill for 4-5 minutes on each side over medium heat or until a meat thermometer reaches 165 degrees. Allow the meat to rest 5 minutes before slicing. This cooked grilled chicken will last up to 5 days in an airtight container in the fridge.
It is also very easy to bake several slices of bacon for easy meal prep. I line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place the uncooked bacon in a single layer. Cook for 6 minutes, flip then cook for 6 more minutes until crisp. Remove and place on paper towels to absorb the fat. Cooked bacon can be easily stored up to 5 days.
If you wish to assemble to wrap completely this will work for one day in advance, just leave the sauces off and put in small containers to dip whenever you are ready to eat. This prevents the wrap from getting too soggy.
Tips for the best Chicken Wrap
- Types of chicken- there are several different types of chicken you can use in your wrap! You can of course use leftover rotisserie chicken or try slow cooker shredded chicken, blackened chicken breast, or honey chipotle chicken!
- Don’t overfill! I know it’s tempting, but adding too much to your tortilla will make it too difficult to wrap.
- Warm up the tortilla- seriously, this step is a game changer! It will make rolling up your wrap much easier
