Today I’m sharing these super easy tostadas. This is an excellent dinner that everyone will love or a quick lunch idea! These crispy tostadas can be baked or fried. They are topped with refried beans, seasoned taco meat, cheese and crisp vegetables! To complete this dish we top it with a zesty taco sauce!
What ingredients do you need to make Tostadas?
- Corn tortillas
- Refried Beans
- Seasoned Taco Meat (1 pound ground beef seasoned with 1 packet of taco seasoning)
- Shredded Cheese
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Sour Cream
- Hot Sauce
- Oil for frying or to brush on if baking
How to fry tostadas?
There are two ways to make tostadas, you can fry or bake them. I’m going to share instructions for both methods. In order to fry tostadas heat a large heavy bottom skillet to medium heat. Heat canola or vegetable oil to medium heat. Add two corn tortillas at a time using tongs. Carefully watch the tortillas and flip when browned.
If you feel like the heat is too high reduce it to medium low heat. When both sides are golden brown carefully remove with tongs and place on a paper towel lined plate. Sprinkle with salt if desired.
How to bake tostadas?
Baking tostadas can be a quicker method, because you can cook larger amounts at once. If you are cooking for a crowd this may be a more convenient method for you. To bake the tostadas preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Lightly brush each side of the corn tortilla with oil, sprinkle one side with salt. Bake 4-5 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired crispness.
Assembling the Easy Beef Tostadas
The great thing about tostadas is that you can create a “taco bar” of sorts. Simply cook the tostadas and lay out any of your desired toppings and allow everyone to make it their tostadas exactly how they like them.
I’m going to share my instructions for assembling the tostadas you see here, but feel free to change things up based on what you have on hand.
