This Ham, Turkey and Gouda Panini is loaded with deli meat, melted cheese and a spicy chipotle sauce! This quick and easy panini recipe can be made in under 10 minutes for a quick lunch or dinner!
I love a good panini! The warm, buttery toasted bread loaded with deli meat and melted cheese is total comfort food to me! This Ham, Turkey and Gouda Panini is no different! It is an excellent meal on it’s own or great paired with a soup or salad!
Since this sandwich has ready to use ingredients there is no precooking required. Simply assemble your sandwich with the chipotle mayo, ham, turkey and gouda. The important step is not to butter your bread before you toast and press it because that adds the perfect amount of crunch and makes this sandwich irresistible!
What ingredients do you need for a Ham, Turkey and Gouda Panini?
You only need a few basic ingredients to make these delicious melts. They are:
- Bread (tips below)
- Thinly sliced ham
- Thinly sliced Turkey
- Butter
- Chipotle Mayonnaise
If you prefer not to add the chipotle mayonnaise that is perfectly fine. This sandwich is excellent with mustard and mayonnaise but it is especially delicious with a good quality honey mustard!
How do I make a panini without a panini press?
You certainly do not have to invest in a pricy panini press to make a delicious sandwich. While I do have this one and it works really well there is another method you can use.
Simply heat a large heavy bottom skillet over medium heat, add your assembled sandwich, buttered side down to the skillet. Place a heavy cast iron skillet on top of the sandwich so it acts as a panini press and really melds the sandwich together. Cook approximately 2 minutes (be careful not to burn) and remove the top skillet. Butter the remaining side of your bread, flip and weigh it down again.
Remove from the skillet when both sides have been toasted perfectly brown and the cheese has melted. Slice and serve immediately.
What kind of bread should I use for a panini?
Our family has a gluten allergy so my favorite bread is Schar Sourdough slices. However, these are some of the best options available:
- Sourdough
- Ciabatta
- Focaccia
- Rye
What can I serve with paninis?
While these quick and easy melts make a great meal on their own, they also pair well with soups and salads. One of my favorite things to serve a good toasted sandwich with is this Instant Pot Collard Green and Black Eyed Pea Soup. It is loaded with vegetables and perfect for dipping those buttery edges in!
